The number of children playing:

Optional, but no more than 30 (in case of more players, it makes sense to make two smaller groups).

Equipment:

The game can be played outdoors or indoors. A rectangular space should be designed to illustrate the forest. Forest boundaries should be clearly marked (cones, stripes, floor markings…) The size of the rectangle should be consistent with the number of players.

Scarves or ribbons or handkerchiefs … certainly something that will serve as a fox’s tail, but will not interfere with the player’s movement. There must be as many accessories as there are handcuffs.

The story »behind the game«

Instructions / rules:

A wolf (one, two, or three) is selected among the players and a referee is responsible for ensuring the proper course of the game. The other players are the foxes.

The foxes tuck the tail (headscarf, strap, etc.) by pinning it to the edge of the trousers. The longer part hangs from the trousers and illustrates the fox’s tail. (The length of the tails should be the same for all.

The game begins with the foxes walking quietly through the forest during the introduction, with wolves waiting at the edge of the forest (in the corners of a rectangle).

At the referee’s sign, wolves start hunting for fox tails.

The game ends when all the foxes are left without a tail or when the time runs out.

Rules:

  • The game takes place only within the boundaries of the forest.
  • When a fox is left without a tail, it is left out of the game and must leave the forest.
  • The tails that the wolf gets are just his.
  • Each fox has only one tail.

Beginning:

The foxes and wolves lived together in the forest. They lived in style for a long time. One day, however, in pure boredom foxes began to nag the wolves, so that they were burried in a bold manner. One day, however, the wolves boomed and the foxes became angry. Hunting for fox turnips has begun: Wolves are on the hunt!

Hint:

Wolves can compete with each other, who will get the most tails.
