Chairs for all players but one (one chair should always be missing) or some marks on the floor.

The story »behind the game«

We used to play this game in school clubs and summer camps.

Instructions / rules:

The game consists of putting chairs into a circle (for example, 10 players but only 9 chairs, because there is one player standing in the middle of the circle and trying to get an empty place). Give the players the different names of fruit, choose 3 or 4 kinds, no more (apples, pears and plums…).
Then the person from the circle calls out different names of fruit and people with the name of the fruit have to move from his/her chair to another. If he/she doesn´t find an empty chair he/she must stay in the middle and he/ she is the one who calls out another fruit.
When you want to move all the people (not only, for example apples), you call out “FRUIT SALAD!“ and all the people have to change places.
This game never ends!

Variation:

The player in the middle can tell the story and when he/she says the fruit, players with that fruit must move…
